Obedience Training & Competition Most people start training their dog because the dog is doing something that the owner doesn't like. The dog peeing on the floor, jumping on company, stealing the roast off the table or pulling when on lead are frequent reasons people give for joining an obedience class. Every dog can benefit from taking classes. The real benefit of taking your dog through obedience classes is the bond that will develop between you and your dog. Of course your pup will also stop peeing on the floor! Screaming and hitting are not part of any good dog training class. You don't have to be mean to be an effective teacher to your dog. You and your dog should enjoy yourselves. Every obedience competitor started with a puppy they just couldn't seem to to train and discovered that obedience training wasn't just useful but fun as well. From there it became, "well, I wonder if I could teach him to do ...". And they discovered they could! And they became even closer with their dog - and they were having even more fun.
Having a well behaved pet is a joy. Showing that pet off to the world - That's an obedience competition! Check out What's New at BHCC. |
