Veterinary
Requirements
2010

In order to help insure the health of all dogs participating in camp, please provide the following records when you register. You should also bring copies of these records with you to camp.

Dogs may not attend camp, even as observers or non-participants, without verifiable proof of immunization.  If you are coming as a last minute guest, your veterinarian can fax your immunization records directly to camp.  Ask the camp concierge when you arrive at camp for the fax number.

Vaccinations/Immunization (required)
Camp Barking Hills accepts vaccination records dated within 12 months of the start of camp OR titers that have been checked within 12 months of the start of camp OR a dated and signed letter on letterhead from a licensed veterinarian stating that the dog has immunity on the date of camp. The exception is Rabies. All dogs six months or older must be vaccinated against Rabies. This is New Jersey State law.   Please send these records in advance, when possible.  Absolutely no dog will be permitted on the grounds without proof of immunization.  Camp Barking Hills does not require Bordetella but you should check with your veterinarian as to his/her reccommondation.

Other recommendations

Other recommendations for all dogs:

Due to the number of dogs at camp we strongly recommend the Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccination. Please discuss this with your veterinarian.

Please discuss Leptospirosis with your veterinarian and let him or her guide you as to whether or not the vaccination is appropriate for your dog.

Camp Barking Hills highly recommends that all dogs be on monthly heartworm preventative as this helps prevent the transmission of tapeworm, roundworm and, if using Interceptor, whipworm.

Additionally, this part of New Jersey has a high incidence of Lyme disease. You should discuss this with your veterinarian and we strongly recommend using some form of flea and tick preventative (e.g. Frontline) one week prior to attending camp. Please be sure your dog is free of fleas. Any dog found with fleas or other communicable parasites will be asked to leave camp immediately with no refund.
