Q: What is a daycamper?
A
daycamper is someone, with their dog, who attends camp
for one day, either Saturday or Sunday.
Q:
Can I come without a dog?
Sure! You can be an Observing Daycamper. That's someone who comes for
the day without a dog or comes along with someone who has
a dog. There are lots of things to do with, or
without a dog. There are many lectures, seminars
and demonstrations available to you. You might want
to learn more about taking care of your dog by taking Canine First Aid, Canine CPR or Introduction to Canine Body Language, learn to Pamper Your Pooch with homemade treats, learn more
about Canine Stucture and Physiology, Dealing with Fears and Phobias, make some Arts & Crafts, attend a Service Dog Demonstration or learn about Canine Massage, shop at the Camp Store, find out what's in the Trainer's Toolbox and lots more. All of these
activities are done without a dog. If you are
coming with a full camper, you will be considered an Observing Camper.
Q.
Do I need to register for camp in advance?
No, you can
register the morning of the day you attend. If you
want the meal plan for that day, however, you'll need
to register in advance by calling (908) 996-9911 or
sending in your registration form.
Q:
How does a daycamper register for classes at camp?
Daycampers should
arrive early on the day of camp to register for
classes. The camp concierge will help you decide on
a schedule and register you for classes. You should
arrive early enough to get yourself and your dog settled
and register for classes before 9:00am. Lure
Coursing, Tracking and Hiking begin earlier, so if you
want to register for those activities please arrive by
7:30am.
Q:
Can't I come for day camp on Monday?
Well,
you can but Monday is a short day, we finish camp at
3:00pm, and most people want a full day of camp
experiences.
Q:
Can I come for two days?
No,
sorry. You may come for one day or for the full
camp.
Q:
What do I need to bring?
The
most important thing is proof of immunization. We
cannot allow your dog on the grounds without it.
Other things you might need are a portable crate, water
container, sunscreen, bug spray, clothing for all
weather, a lawn chair and anything else you might like to
make yourself and your dog comfortable. Not to
worry, if you forget something you can probably find it
at the camp store. Don't forget some cash for the
camp store!
Q:
Will I get to do all the activities?
You may
attend as many activities, sports, lectures, seminars and
demonstrations as you can fit into your day! The
only exception are progressive classes. If you come
on Saturday, you may take day one of a progressive class,
but if you come on Sunday you'll have missed the first
class and may not join a progressive class with your
dog. You are welcome to "audit" a
progressive class - sit in, observe, take notes and so
on. Progressive classes are listed on the schedule
as 1, 2 or 3. Classes designated with an A/B can be
taken together or separately - so those you are welcome
to take. Just remember to plan your day so your dog
gets frequent rest breaks. Camp activities start
at 8am and continue until 10pm!
